Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
The cost per day is $35. Most families will pay per month, but other payment schedules can be arranged. If, after the first two mornings you find the program is not a good fit we are happy to offer a refund for the remaining weeks. After the initial settling in period of two weeks, if you can no longer attend the program we require one months paid notice.
What are your hours?
Our program runs Monday - Thursday from 9am-12pm.
What does a typical day look like?
Meet at drop off area on Westholme Road.
5-10 minutes of morning meet up and check in. Wait for all of our friends to arrive. How is everyone feeling? Intentions for the morning.
2 hours of child-led exploration on farm or in forest.
30 minutes of snack and group gathering/appropriate book/further investigation/reflection.
Group gathering can include an appropriate book, songs, further investigation of early topics or questions during our earlier exploration. Followed by a group reflection of our day.
Final minutes spent farming or forest time until pickup.
The ratio at Up Top Farm Nature Program will be 1:6 as informed by Child and Nature Alliance of Canada and Washington State where Nature Programs are licensed.
Do you offer full days?
Not yet, however longer days is a long term plan for Up Top Farm Nature Program.
What should the children bring?
Suitable clothing for the weather conditions (a detailed list at registration will be provided), a change of clothes, water bottle, sunscreen and snack.
Can we come for a visit to see if the program is a good fit for our family?
Yes, please contact us in advance to arrange a suitable time.
Can my child receive childcare funding or subsidy for this program?
No, as an outdoor education program we do not qualify for government funding.
Can I use my homeschool funding for your homeschool programs?
Yes, some homeschool programs allow families to use their government funding to pay for our program.
